If you can’t pronounce Bokkeumbop, just say Fried Rice instead! This dish makes quick work of your day-old rice and tastes great too. It’s a college-favorite at the local Korean restaurant and the ingredients were cheap enough that it wouldn’t matter if it turned disastrous. This reminds me so much of those college days! “NOSTALGIAAA!”

Time: 20 minutes
Price: under $5

  • 2 cups day-old rice
  • 1 cup kimchi
  • 1/4 can spam
  • 1 green onion
  • 1 egg
  • Korean sweet chili sauce
  • Sriracha hot sauce
  1. Chop up kimchi, spam, and green onions into small pieces.
  2. Heat up pan with olive oil and add in day-old rice when hot.
  3. Stir the rice around for a minute and add in the kimchi and spam.
  4. Add in the sauces to taste. We put in about twice as much sweet chili sauce as Sriracha, but lean towards more Sriracha if you want it spicier.
  5. Add in the chopped up green onions and leave it on low-heat while you pan-fry an egg on the side.
  6. Place the egg on top of the rice but remember to break the yolk before digging in!
